About Me & My Family

Thank you for giving me a few moments of your time! As a lifelong resident of Lenoir City, I am proud that my family is rooted here today. My family is what drives me to be the best that I can be. More about my family: After a 15-year career as an educator, my wife Angela shifted her focus to helping others navigate life's challenges and improve their mental health as a licensed therapist, with an office located in Farragut. Abigail, our oldest daughter, is an electrical engineer at Arconic in Alcoa, TN, and recently married our newly minted son-in-law, Mikhail. Lauren, our youngest daughter, is a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, studying biology. We are truly blessed with wonderful kids. Angela and I have a heart to serve others; it’s where we find great joy. We have served on several mission trips to places like Peru, Uganda, and, most recently, Nicaragua. We love to serve! We are very active in our home church, City Hills Church.

After graduating from LCHS and earning my college degree, I worked as a project manager for a Knoxville-based architecture firm for 10 years. During the economic downturn in 2007, I transitioned employment to the City of Knoxville. My job duties at the City of Knoxville included writing competitive federal grant applications, creating and managing multi-million dollar budgets and work plans, managing a team of project contract supervisors, and overseeing multiple federally funded construction and economic development programs. For 16 years, I saw how government operates from the inside out. I know the importance of citizen engagement, transparency, detailed plans, and sound budgeting. Since 2016, I have also operated a small business, Volunteer Home Solutions, which provides consulting and technical services to contractors, developers, nonprofits, and municipalities across the state, specializing in project management and federal regulatory compliance.

In 2025, I was hired as the Executive Director of East TN Housing Development Corp. (ETHDC). ETHDC is a non-profit organization that helps our income-qualified friends and neighbors achieve the dream of homeownership, even in a historically difficult housing market. Since 1991, ETHDC has provided more than 50 quality homes to families in Knoxville with the help of our trusted partners. It is very rewarding to hand a first-time homeowner the keys to their new home!

In 2021, I earned the designation of Certified Public Manager from the University of Tennessee Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership, and I am a 2025 graduate of Leadership Loudon County. I believe that my experiences and training have prepared me for this time of continued service to my hometown.

My Platform

Your Voice at City Hall

A public servant should do just that; serve the public. I believe the most important thing that any elected official can do, is listen to their fellow citizens. Carrying out the vision and desires of the very residents who place public servants in office and pay the bills is exactly what I plan to do. Let me continue to be your voice at City Hall.

Development

“What is your position on development?” is often the first question of Lenoir City residents. With over 19 years of government development and planning experience, I bring a solid foundation of knowledge to the table and an understanding of how things work from the inside out.

Since first being elected in 2022, I have advocated for a professional third-party study of our land use patterns along with citizen engagement to help shape the future of our hometown. This process is finally underway! I believe that allowing unregulated without modern plans and a shared vision is irresponsible. I fully supported the moratorium on apartment construction and continue to do so. We must get a grasp on the density (# of units per acre) and the locations where these high density developments are being allowed. High density developments in the wrong location can wreak havoc on the infrastructure, and adjacent landowners.

The choice is clear. If you are looking for a candidate who will listen to your concerns and vote based on the facts and understanding of the outcomes, I am your candidate. I will support a continued moratorium on high-density development until the study is complete and implemented.

Transparency & Citizen Engagement

Providing citizens with the whole picture of the operations of our city is the only way to maintain confidence in our local government. I am committed to withholding nothing and telling the whole story. The public should always know the plans that our elected officials are pursuing. I want to not only hear what you have to say but also to understand. Plans that provide direction and help shape the future of our hometown should be decided by the citizens.

Historic Downtown & 321 Corridor

Our historic downtown is the identity of our city. I will continue to support our downtown business and property owners. Great investments, both public and private, have been made downtown, and I want to see businesses flourish. I will work collaboratively with all stakeholders to explore ways to expand and improve parking opportunities downtown. Improving parking access means: more customers visiting our downtown businesses, increased foot traffic, and a stronger, more vibrant downtown economy.

Supporting downtown businesses means listening to the people who are invested there every day. I will continue to advocate for practical solutions that help businesses succeed and make downtown more accessible for everyone.

Our Hwy 321 corridor is the most-traveled road in our city. Many people passing through will form their opinion of Lenoir City based on their travels down Hwy 321 & Hwy 11. I desire through the current land use study to ensure that businesses along these corridors are contributing in a positive manner to the sales tax base and the aesthetics of our hometown. In addition to ensuring that the appropriate kinds of businesses populate our commercial corridors, I desire to create a design overlay that would place minimum design standards on new developments. A little thought can go a long way, and can make a difference between a business/building contributing to a community or being a detractor. Developing with intention will create a community that we can be proud of and positively impact our quality of life.

Our downtown continues to be the gathering place of our city, so let’s make it something to be proud of, and ensure that Hwy 321 attracts the businesses we desire and can utilize.

Parks & Greenways

I believe that a healthy city is a happy city. I am a big proponent of better parks and greenway systems with more connections. I will work to ensure that the Parks & Recreation Dept. has the budget it needs to not only expand and develop new facilities but also to properly maintain our existing facilities. Our facilities and programs are at capacity. I will work to expand the offerings and experiences that we all desire. Let's work together to ensure there are Parks & Recreation offerings that we can all utilize and enjoy!

Public Services & Safety

Our incredible team of local first responders have my full support as they strive to keep our city safe. I will continue to fight for the best wages, equipment, and work environment for our first responders. Attracting and retaining those with a heart to serve is a must for our city. In addition to our new public safety training center and very competitive pay/benefits, the wonderful people of Lenoir City make this a great place for a lifelong career.

Community

Our neighborhoods are the place we call home. I will continue to work hard to ensure that neighborhood concerns are not only heard but addressed. By building stronger, more organized communities, we can deliver a more effective and cohesive voice directly to City Hall. I strive to be accessible to all citizens. I never shy away from a conversation, even if it is a difficult one. Learning about others' viewpoints and concerns helps us all to grow.

I believe in civility amongst elected officials. An elected official or candidate who focuses mainly on negativity is not serving their community well. Issues are often more complex than can be understood by glancing at a social media post or reading a short blog. I will continue to base my votes based on facts and what I believe to be best for my hometown.

Since being first elected in 2022, I have donated all of my City Council stipend funds to local causes; school support groups, athletics, community events, non-profits, scholarships, etc. This has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of the amazing work happening right here in Lenoir City. I will continue to support these causes with my stipend money if given the chance.

Local Economy

Lenoir City is not only a great place to live, but it should be a great place to work as well, with good-paying jobs. I am committed to doing what it takes to bring additional desirable, good-paying jobs to our city. Lenoir City is more than a bedroom community to Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Maryville. I believe we can create a city in which we can find great places to live, play, and work. As Lenoir CIty continues to grow, it is imperattive that we continue to partner with the EDA and engage with the State to attract desireable companies to Lenoir City.
